Items You Probably Don’t Realize About Babies

14th August 2010 by Babies No Comments

Most people understand that babies eat a lot, sleep a lot and go through a lot of diapers. Do you understand why a baby will move his body the way he does? Have you been taught why a baby grows in certain ways at certain times? Most parents don’t bother learning the specific of their child’s development. Other parents decide to learn everything they can about the way their child grows and develops as it gets older.

Babies are never dull! Think of what you know about babies and toss half of it out-you’ve been given a lot of bad information! Read on to learn more about babies and early childhood development! Also, remember to study up on ways to stop bedwetting!

Did you already know that there are three hundred bones in an infant’s body? When a person becomes an adult there are only two hundred and six bones in his or her body. You do not lose any bones as you grow up; the reason an adult has fewer bones than a baby is because as the baby grows some of his bones fuse together. Many believe that this is one of the main reasons that a baby is so much more flexible physically as an adult-because the bones are able to move independently of one another in infancy. If you stop to think about it, it does make some sense: when was the last time you could put your feet in your mouth? Even while a baby is in the womb he can hear sounds, but you already know that. Doctors have proven that babies can hear and react to the sounds that they hear-sometimes very strongly! The ears of an infant are sensitive to different decibel levels of sound-both inside of and outside of the womb. You can hurt a baby’s ears even before he is born! The loudest sound your infant should be subjected to (inside the womb or outside of it) is the household vacuum cleaner. You will soon learn that even your vacuum cleaner might be too loud for your baby so keep the noise level to a minimum and try to avoid heavy traffic or construction when you leave the house as it can be too loud as well.

Most people believe that babies do not know how to smile before they are born. Many people attribute a smiling mouth shape to gas if the baby is below a certain age. For more than a century people believed that smiling was an activity taught to babies by their parents. It was common knowledge that babies had an easier time expressing their unhappiness over something than feeling and expressing happiness. Now it is apparent that this has always been wrong. Ultrasounds have gotten a lot better in recent years and prove that babies can smile before they are born. Many families have been given ultrasound pictures of their smiling children weeks before they are due to be born. Common belief now is that the birthing process is so traumatic for infants that they do not smile until they have gotten over the shocking change in environments. Babies are incredibly surprising beings. Nobody knows for sure exactly how they learn or how fast they pick things up. The one thing everyone can agree on is just how quickly babies change and how amazing it is to watch them grow up. Last but not least, look over this excellent bedwetting information. Highly recommended.
