A Pragmatic Guidebook to Furnishing Your Baby Room

Pay special attention to your choice of baby bedding as you plan the design of your baby’s nursery. There is a variety of ways to combine comfort, aesthetics, and a nurturing environment for your baby. There are many options for new parents who are outfitting a nursery with baby furniture and crib bedding.

Parents can choose to buy their baby’s crib and linens at a discount store, or spend a lot more money at an upscale department store. When purchasing used furniture,it would be wise to make sure that the item meets all safety guidelines and there has not been a recall since its manufactured date.

Ensure that the sides of your baby furniture comes down without a jolt by taking it for a test drive. Choose a crib without a side latch as you do not want to wake up your baby after you put him to sleep. An assessment of your height would be necessary to analyse how much you might have to bend to reach for the baby.

One crib is sufficient if you are having multiples and they are small. Babies who were part of a multiple birth will probably want to sleep next to one of their siblings after sharing such a tight space with them for months. You can purchase another crib after your babies become mobile.

After you have all the right furniture chosen for your child’s room, you will have to get the baby bedding. Accidents will happen, so place a waterproof sheet over the baby mattress to minimize damage from nightly occurrences. Babies’ developing eyes need stimulation so it’s a good idea to decorate the crib with patterned sheets and bumpers in bright colors. There will be many, many choices available, with thousands of color and pattern combinations on the market. Organic or “green” baby bedding is also an option if this is important to you, but be aware that it will cost more than a regular babies crib set.

All baby bedding should be washed with detergent that is certified to be safe for babies, so that the baby’s skin won’t be irritated. Your baby should not have anything in the crib; if it is cold, dress your baby in more layers.
